Part of the talk was based on our books, but it contained many other things as well. At this congress I met C. G. Krein’s talk (he helped in its translatiort into French). G. D. Lax, N. S. J. Schoenberg. All of these meetings were very pleasant and very useful. G. Krein ran a mathematical seminar at the Scientists House in Odessa. I lectured there and listend to many excellent talks. It was always interesting with a very pleasant atmosphere. G. Krein at the various institutions where he worked.
Was a joy and an important school for me. I never was a formal student of his, but he was more than an ordinary instructor for me. He was a great teacher and is a very good friend. 4. Gelfand’s Seminar I used to like to visit Moscow University and to stay as a guest at the student residence which occupies the wings of the skyscraper.
