The latter are the easiest to use, requiring only a 5⁄32-in. starter hole drilled with a masonry bit. To best support heavy machines (such as tablesaws and planers), add sleepers directly underneath where the bases of the machines will be located.
Tiles in a variety of colors. While the initial cost is somewhat high, the advantage of these systems is their flexibility. If you move equipment around—or if you move to a new shop—you simply reconfigure the tiles to suit your new layout. Floor Treatments Painting concrete Moisture easily travels through regular concrete floors and can make a shop unpleasantly damp. Two coats of floor paint will prevent moisture migration to such an extent that the humidity in the shop will drop noticeably. Besides hiding ugly stains, painting a dark, dingy floor with a light-colored paint, such as light gray, will help reflect light around your shop, resulting in better overall illumination.
