She decided to go back and fill in the story that she had left out. She wanted a name that had a romantic feel, but one that had fallen out of popularity in recent years. With the vampire named, she turned to naming the heroine. She felt very possessive of the character, almost as if she were her own child, so Meyer decided to give her the name that she had been saving for a daughter, if she had had one. That was how Isabella (Bella) Swan was finally born.
